This 3mm thick, genuine veg tanned leather Koiguchi guard is placed between the Tsuba and Saya when the sword is in storage.
Useage helps to maintain the grip of the Saya on the Habaki and prevent damage to the Saya should the sword receive a shock in transit or storage.
