This White Leather Traditional Tsuba Dome with Strings is a classic Japanese-style Tsuba Dome designed for traditional Kendo practice. Made from natural white leather, this traditional-style stopper uses leather fastening strings rather than a modern rubber stopper, providing a secure and authentic setup for your Shinai.
Unlike standard rubber Tsuba Domes, this model is tied directly to the Shinai's leather components, giving the user a traditional method of securing the Tsuba and Tsuba Dome in place.
Traditional Tie-On Design
The Tsuba Dome features long leather fastening strings that allow it to be physically tied and secured to the Shinai.
Depending on the Tsuba being used, the strings can be secured in different ways:
-Passed through the hole in the Tsuba before inserting the Shinai.
-Passed through holes drilled through the Tsuba and then tied to the Shinai.
-Tied to the Tsuru/Tsukagawa of the Shinai.
This traditional fastening method provides a secure fit while allowing the Tsuba Dome to be used without a rubber stopper.
Natural Leather Construction
Made from natural leather, the Tsuba Dome provides a durable and secure contact surface around the Shinai. The leather construction is suited to regular Kendo practice and develops its own character through use.
The white leather finish gives this Tsuba Dome a clean, traditional appearance.

Keep the Leather Dry
Natural leather should be kept as dry as possible. If the Tsuba Dome becomes damp during training, remove it from the Shinai and allow it to dry naturally at room temperature.
Do not place it directly against a radiator or other strong heat source, as excessive heat can cause leather to dry out, harden, or deform.
Wipe Clean After Training
After use, wipe the leather with a soft, dry cloth to remove sweat and surface moisture.
Avoid soaking the Tsuba Dome or washing it under running water.
Care for the Leather Strings
Check the fastening strings regularly for signs of excessive wear, fraying, or damage. The strings are an important part of the fastening system and should remain securely tied before training.
Storage
Store the Tsuba Dome in a cool, dry environment away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
If storing it separately from the Shinai, avoid tightly compressing or bending the leather for extended periods.
This is a traditional tie-on Tsuba Dome and does not use the conventional rubber stopper. Correctly tying and securing the leather strings is therefore essential to ensure the Tsuba and Tsuba Dome remain securely positioned during practice.
